One Woman Awake–a poem for all Mojo Moms

I came across this poem this morning, just as I had been thinking about a wonderful friend and colleague who inspires me. I like to think that this poem speaks to the Mojo Mom in each of us:

One Woman Awake
Awakens another,
The second awakes the next door neighbor
And three awake can rouse the town,
And turn the whole place upside down.
And many awake
Can raise such a fuss
That it finally awakens the rest of us.
One woman up
With dawn in her eyes
Multiplies.

–Author unknown

Thanks to the National Association of Mothers’ Centers, who made cards with this poem on them, which is how I discovered it.

Who was I thinking of this morning as I read this? Why not spend the day thinking about what would it be like it if was YOU? Then check back on my blog tomorrow and I’ll tell you who inspired me today.

I love this. I wish I had written it.

Great website. I found it through your review of Buzz by Katherine Ellison.

  2. Good Morning, Amy! I love it that YOU are a woman who brings out THAT woman in everyone who is lucky enough to know you!

Interesting to read this, right after getting the Mother’s Acting Up video about moving from talk to action around caring for other’s mother’s children. I really hope the next chunk of politics involves mojo moms more than “mama grizzlies” (whatever that really means – -grrr).

Thank YOU, Jill! You made my day, reading your comment right before bedtime. I am blessed to have so many remarkable women in my life–and thinking about my Mom, my #1 inspiration right now.

Thank you for this…I needed the inspiration today!!

You are welcome, Amy! Remember how much can be set into motion by just one woman who is motivated to make a difference. If you can find even one more person to help you get started, that can really help, too.

I hope you are doing well! Fondly, Amy T.
